Relationships

This week we are having a music week. The children will listen to a range of music including hearing some of our KS2 children playing a variety of instruments.  They will be responding to music physically, pictorially and giving their opinions on the music that they hear. They will also have the opportunity to play some music themselves.

If your child has a favourite piece of music that they enjoy listening to we would like them to bring it in to school to share with the class.

Literacy -

We will be identifying and sorting instruments according to how they are played.

We will be giving our opinions about the music that we hear.

Numeracy

This week we are look at number patterns, including asking the children what is one more/one less than a given number and getting the children to fill in missing numbers on a numberline or 100 square.

Some websites that will support your child to understand number patterns are:

 Reading

The website: http://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/teacher has lots of e books that your child can read. The books are colour coordinated based on the level your child is currently reading e.g. Grey, Purple, Green, Blue etc. Please pick the colour book that your child had previously been sent home with, the colour book can be identified by the colour label in the top left hand corner of the front cover. If you are unsure of which books to choose, please email me.

During the last two weeks, Yellow Class have been thinking about Pets and animals that help people.

We have had visits from Yate small animal rescue centre, children in yellow classes own pets, a teachers dog and a lady who trains guide dogs. We also visited a local home that have lots of different animals. Here are some photos of Yellow Class meeting all the different animals.

Recent Letters

Changes to Show and Tell - 6th Jan 2012 -  This letter went home on Friday 6th informing you of how Show and Tell will work as of the week beginning 9th Januray.

Useful Documents - Please click on the links below to access some useful information.

Reading Powerpoint - We held a information evening during Term 1 about how we teach your child to read and write and how you can support your child at home. There is also other useful information about how we do things in the Foundation Stage which may answer any questions you have.

Wow Moment Sheet - If your child does something amazing at home that you think we would like to know about e.g. gets a sports badge, rides a two wheeled bike, reads or writes independently, works out a mathematical problem, sustains attention at an activity they normally find hard etc, please fill out a wow slip and send it in to us.

Reading days - Please see the table to find out which day your child will be read with in school. Please make sure your child has their reading book, word box, reading record sheet, maths challenge and plastic wallet with the sight recognition words cards and the umbrella sheet so that we can swap them for new ones. It is also really useful if you could write a comment on the reading record sheet so that we know how your child is getting on at home.
